hey im trying to connect my psp to my comp i do have a magic gate compatible memory stick its genuine sony. and I've also try'd using a variety of different usb cables, my computer isn't recognizing it at all im baffled.
if anybody has some suggestions id really appreciate it

When using the USB cord from your PSP to you computer are you going to settings and then going to USB connection? Thats the only way that the computer will recognize the USB connection if it is selected on the PSP.
