By the way mods, if this thread or anything similar has been created close this and redirect me to it.

alrite, i have a modchip (h2o) in my slim v12 ps2 and now I have to change my laser for the 3rd time. i am fed up with changing the laser (i am pretty sure its the laser burn out issue with modded v12 slim ps2's) so I thinking about purchasing a phat ps2 (2nd hand cause i cant find them new *sigh*). Now the question I am asking here is can I take the modchip out of the slim PS2 and put it into the phat? (of course I won't do it, I'll get a pro to do it) or once it has been soldered it can't be added some where else.

hopefully you can get the idea of what I am trying to do.

Thanks for any responses in advanced!

Chances are a laser fix was not put in with your slim ps2 mod. So the mod is burning out the laser. In any case, fat ps2's are much more reliable.

The h20 mod chip should be compatible with all fat ps2's. So yes, the mod chip can be taken out of your current slim ps2 and remodded in another unit.

PM me if you are looking for someone to put it in the new unit. Otherwise post any more questions if you have any.

Hope this helped!

I don't think the laser fix was built into the chip. It should be a separate mod put on by the installer.
