hey guys, i'm getting ready to sell my POS refurb on e-bay so I called MS and asked about transferring ownership of the 360 to someone else (so they will get the warranty). The rep said that the policy just changed and that now, only the original owner can get the 360 warranty, even if you call and change it through them. So I'm gonna give my name and an address (not my real one) to MS and give to the person who buys it, so they will still get it. Bunch of crap.

that is a bunch of crap. before all you had to do was call up, give them either their name, address email, or phone # and they would transfer the registration over to the new person. retarded MS.

Actually, that's been their policy from day one. But some of the MS reps let it slide, and reregistered the console to the next owner.

I wouldn't be surprised if they start cracking down, though. I'm sure it's not cheap to refurb a 360, and if they could save by not warranting the second owner, they'll do it.

And it's not just an MS thing... the vast majority of manufacturers only extend their warranties to original owners.

From Xbox.com: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/system...es/warranty.htm

Quote:
One Year Express Warranty on Console (Three Years for Three Lights Flashing Red). Subject to the terms and conditions of this Limited Warranty, Microsoft warrants to you only (the original retail purchaser) that, during the Warranty Period and under normal use and service, the Xbox® Console will substantially conform with the printed user instruction materials packaged with the Console.
