PSP USB Connection to Windows XP

Havings torouble getting the PSP to display as a masss storage device in Windows XP, My Computer, Devices with Removeable Storage?

Set the PSP to USB Mode.

Connect the USB cable to the PSP and the PC.

Power down the PC and then power it on (aka cold boot, hard boot, POR (power On Reset))

Your PSP will now be displayed as a drive letter in in Windows XP, My Computer, Devices with Removeable Storage.

Not sure why it won't work without the power-on-reset (POR).

However, once the POR is done, removing and reconnection the USB/PSP works like a charm. It must have something to do with the way the device driver is loaded, I guess.

I had the same problem. just format the memory stick without the PSP (plug it directly into the computer) than format again wit the psp after... Make sure you are formating the memory stick as FAT32 the first time.
