I use RipIt4Me and when it gets to the DVD Shrink screen, and error pops up. The error is *Dvd Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Invalid data file "C:\LOVE_IN_THE_TIME_OF_CHOLERA\VTS_01_1.VOB"*. Is this an error because of encryption? I never saw this before so am not sure how to resolve it. I tried re-starting the process, but nothing has worked.

You have two choices to fix the problem. The first is to download the free version of DVDFab Decrypter at http://dvdfab.com/free.htm

Simple to use. Rip the movie to the HDD then open Shrink to process the files.

Choice number two is a little more difficult. RipIt4Me stores the files on the HDD. You will have to where the files are after a rip is done. You may open the ripped files with FixVTS to put the files back in DVD Structure compliance. Link After that the files should open just fine with DVD Shrink.

Edit: Didn't close url tag! Ooops:(

RipIt4Me was working fine for the pst two months and it goes through the process of using FixIt so I am not sure how my using it separately will help. I tried it though and it did not work. I cannot backup any DVDs now. Is there a way to completely remove the program and reinstall it? Is there a guide on AfterDawn somewhere you know about that you could direct me to?

Try processing the files to a new folder using VobBlanker.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

Go to the internet, type in ripit4me and you will come up with some archived files and you will find a guide to help you.

In RipIt4Me Use 1 click mode. Then even though it does not complete you may select Logs/Settings at the top then click View Saved Logs

That will open up C:\Documents and Settings\"User Name"\Application Data\RipIt4Me and you will see a history of files generated by RI4M.

I had a similar problem with an older movie that was not playing correctly. I tried DVDFab and AnyDVD and they would just stop. RI4M stopped as well, but I was able to go to that location and extract the files and run them through DVDReMake Pro and get the movie made. VobBlanker will work just as well as DVDRMP to process the files.

Edit: This is also a great place to remove items from your computer. Each Movie takes up space that you are not aware of, and in time you will run out of HDD space. Just a little tip.

I have been using ripit4me with no issues for about 6-7 months and all of a sudden when it gets to the DVD shrink part it gives an error. Is there something that might cause this error? Error is as follows:
Dvd Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Invalid data file "C:\NAME OF VIDEO\VTS_01_1.VOB"*.

If you made it to the Shrink stage then the movie was ripped. It just happens to have protection that RI4M was not able to get rid of. In RI4M select Logs/Settings then View Saved Logs.

It will open up the location C:\Documents and Settings\"User Name"\Application Data\RipIt4Me

Here you will find temp files of movies that you have ripped with RI4M. It is a good idea to come to this location from time to time and remove old files as to not use up HDD space that you need.

You will see a file for the movie that you were trying to process. Basically Shrink does an analysis of the files before you have a choice to Shrink the file. You will need to run this file through FixVTS or VobBlanker which are both free programs to get it processed for DVD Shrink to handle.

After you run the program through one or both you should not have a problem opening it with DVD Shrink if that is your program of choice. You also have the option of using Nero Recode, or DVD-RB to encode the files. DVD Shrink and Nero Recode are both transcoders and not encoders.

Edit: Why do I feel like I just repeated myself?

Let me know if that helped you out.
