I have got a big problem. I am on Original firmware 3.51 and whenever I try to downgrade with Pandora, or use the Time Machine tool, I get the error that says "The Game could not be started (80020148C)" Yes, I have a UMD is. This has something to do with my UMD being off or something. So heres where the second problem comes in, I try to get to the Recovery Menu by holding R when I start my psp, I am doing it the right way, but it never shows up. When I try to download Custom Firmware 3.51 or 3.52 it doesn't let me, i'v tried loads of firmwares that are higher then my current one, but sadly, none worked. It keeps saying "File corrupted". I cant even downgrade it because of that same error (80020148c), so I am in a tight situation here. I only have 1 psp, 1 memory card (1 GB), and 1 Battery (Sony 3.6V, 800 mAh battery pack). I have tried loads of tut's and I keep running into the same problems listed above, loads of times. I really need help with this, if some of you could be nice enough to add me on msn, i'd really be happy. My msn is PresentsXL@hotmail.com

Also, leave comments here to please, on how I can fix this, I really need some help with this, my dumb friend told me to download 3.51 -_-. Then he said wrong one...I am so mad.

To use Pandora, you need a Pandora BATTERY as well as the magic memstick. You cannot downgrade from an official firmware without one.

It seems you are fundamentally confused with the process. To downgrade, you should insert the mms first, then insert your Pandora battery - your PSP will automatically power up as soon as you do.

From there, you install the custom firmware files.

Once that process is completed, you go back to your normal memstick + normal battery. Then you can upgrade to any higher custom (OR official, if you want) firmwares from the XMB menu.

Thats the problem, I used the guide to make a Pandora battery, but I kept getting that error I said above...on how the game cannot be started.

That's because you don't downgrade from the XMB, you downgrade from your battery's Service Mode menu (immediately after your PSP boots).

The above post was edited to include more information, btw.

Getting a little confused but now this is leading to my 2nd problem. Whenever I try to use Pandora i get this error, I try to fix it by going to the Recovery menu, but sadly, I cant since I don't have a CFW

EDIT: I am trying to use Pandora battery file to make a Pandora battery, but I cant because of that dumb error, and I cant fix that error because of that Recovery Menu, since it wont start.

Don't confuse the Recovery Menu with Service Mode.

I'm not sure what you mean... a "Pandora battery file"? I am unaware of any software that can create Pandora batteries, though I could be wrong.

As far as I know, a Pandora battery is a hardware mod. You need to create it by physically clipping pin#5 on the circuit board. (See FAQ guides in this forum for instructions)

Alternatively there are commercial TOOL/service mode batteries for sale, such as Datel's TOOL battery (I use one of these myself).

Once you put one of these batteries in your PSP, it will automatically power on, and you will be presented with the Service Mode menu.

FYI, the Recovery Menu is something you get after you've installed a custom firmware. It has much different options to Service Mode.
