Hey Guys,

I have a V13 PS2 Slim with a Matrix Infinity with a laser that's starting to die on me. I'm thinking of getting the HDCombo and putting a Hard Drive in it so I can play my games once they're backed up (all legit 100% read backups no pirated discs). I can still play my genuine discs most of the time, but I'm really bad on DVDs so I thought this would be a better option.

Anyway, I have a quick couple questions that I haven't had much luck in finding the answers myself

1- With a MI chip on the PS2, do I still need a HD loader or a USBfix to run the backups off the HD? or can I trigger a boot to HD using the Matrix chip startup?

2- For the Soldering of the FPC-T cable, is it just a matter of bridging the solderpoint to the FPC cable? It looks that way from the diagram, but it's not 100% clear in the picture. I don't mind doing a short-wire install in somepoints, but I don't want to go through hours of soldering work (I'm good enough to probably do it, but I genrally don't like soldering :)

3- I understand that some games seem to have bug/chopping issues when run off a HD unless patches are applied. Where are the patches obtained from normally or is it a matter of torrents/warez and such and this question should be disregarded :D

Thanks for any info you guys can provide, of course alternative suggestions are appreciated as well (except of course buying a new laser, I'd sooner get a chubby ps2)

If I am not mistaken, the DMS 4 Pro chip is the only chip that will allow use of a HD on a slim.
