I got a friend of mine's PSP. He said he was playing a game and suddenly it just shut off by itself, and just before that happened, the screen went all scrambled and then appeared a snowy screen and went away. He told me by phone that the green light came up and nothing happened each time he tried to turn the console on. I thought it was a brick and told him to bring the PSP.
I've now checked it and the green light does come up but it just flashes off. I mean, you swing the power button up and the green led just flashes and turns off again. I put the pandora battery and memstick and the light just keep blinking as the service battery tries to turn the PSP on, but the PSP keeps shutting itself off.
I checked the lil' motherboard from the UMD cover and has de IC0003 (or so) number.
I hope you guys have encountered this thing before and tell me what's going on and possible ways to solve it.
he says he didn't drop the PSP, and doesn't have any dents that may show a drop.
By snowy screen I mean he saw something as when a TV has no signal and then a bunch of black and white dots appear thorugh the screen and then a heavy rain noise is heard. In his case, he saw the image of the game all scrambled then the snowy screen then got off.
I've read somewhere on this forums that the LCD is the guilty of this situation, and for what my friend says about what happened on the screen, I guess it's time to replace it.
I guess it'll be cheaper for him buying a new PSP than repair that console.
