hey guys,
i have a d2c wii and i was planning on getting the d2pro chip. the problem is i have ZERO experience with soldering and modchips in general. how difficult is it really to install the d2pro? i read the it is now easier to install because it now only needs 9 wires. or should i just try to find a presoldered one with the wiiclip?

You should not think about doing it yourself if you have no experience. Clips are dubious - it's possible they can come loose according to some reports and the jury is very much still out. I'd get it soldered in by a pro if I were you.

What he said.

Not to single you out, but I am constantly amazed at the number of people who are willing to risk a $250.00 USD device that is already in short supply by using it as their "first time" soldering project.

I have 30+ years electronics experience but since it was the one and only one I was ever going to do, plus I had a "cut pins" Wii, I farmed it out to the professionals. Well worth the addl. cost.
