I have downloaded this program three times and every time I try to use it the installer comes up. The author addresses this in his forum, saying that you need to fix it with Windows Install Cleanup Program. Someone asked him what to delete with this and he did not provide a coherent answer, and it appears that new members are not allowed to sign up on the forum.

I installed the Windows plug-in and removed a couple of nuisance programs, but it still happens. I don't know what a lot of the listed programs do and thus fear deleting them. Does anyone know what I should delete with the Windows plug-in to keep the Windows installer from running when I click Flick? It freaks me out because I do not know what it is trying to install.

Thanks a lot.

Annoyances.org. That's radical! A new place to look for probs and pictures of my co-workers. Thanks so much for answering.

I think I found how to fix the problem.

A big smiley to you!
Dale

Did you add 'Group policy object editor' to the console and then disable the installer?

No. My situation was just like the following, which was a ways down the topic threads. I did what he suggests here:disabled the installer from Admin Tools in Control Panel. It works: I made my first Flick flick. Is there an issue with this approach? -

I'm trying Solution #2, and had to run mmc.exe because I couldn't find gpedit.msc.

You will need to go to Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Services and then locate the Windows Installer Service and then Disable it or try to stop it. You might also want to End the "msiexec.exe" process tree from the task manager when you press Ctrl-Alt-Del.

I posted a link to this thread on the DVD Flick Forum - it may assist someone else.
Glad you found the solution.

I found if i keep clicking on "cancel" in the Windows Installer dialogue box- preparing to install- the box goes off after four "cancel" clicks and the DVD FLICk project page opens immediately. If i don`t click cancel DVD FLICK will take over three minutes to load. Haven`t stopped Windows Installer but it`s something. Cheers
