Hello,

I have this issue regarding to my DVD player that plays only some of the files. He does sees all of them in the playing list, but he does not run them, saying "unrecognized format". Sometimes it does play some of them but only the sound can be heard. important to say that old divx files he plays like a tiger with no problems.

I was told in the store I bought it that the DivX drivers can be updated because of the USB plug-in exit that he has.

When I called no one could tell me how exactly it is being done.
the way I see it, I should download some firmware from some place and plug it with a Disc-On-Key to the DVD and in some sort of bizzare way it will update.

The DVD is: FUJICOM DVD 1480
But I'm sure the update is general for alot of brands and not specific for each one...

Can anyone help me with finding where to d/l these drivers?

Firmware upgrades for standalone players generally come from the manufacturer with instructions on how to install them.
The problem you are reporting is not uncommon and is caused by the file either not being a suitable DivX file or not meeting the specs set by the DVD player manufacturer..it may have the wrong resolution (frame height and width)etc.
You would have to compare a working file to a non working file with the likes of 'GSpot'.
GSpot will tell you which codec was used and the frame size.
Often you will find that the bad file uses the 'XviD' codec and was sized incorrectly.

Allright, I got what your saying.
Is there a way to re-size it or re-codec it with some program that won't take hours to do it but something less than 10 minutes?

I'll check the "GSpot" you mentioned but pretty sure that's gonna be the case so I just wanna know if there's a way to convert that same file into what it is/was supposed to be in order to run at My Player.

Thank you.

Assuming that the problem is with XviD files, and XviD and DivX are supposed to be functionally equivalent, if the player is rejecting XviD files, it's either because they are not fully compliant or the player prefers to read the DivX coding in the actual file.
The 4cc changer utility might help in those cases.
It changes the coding on a file to make it look like a DivX coded file.
Here's a link to some information - the first part contains the relevant information and a link to the 4CC changer..

The change only takes a few seconds.
If the files has to be re-compressed, then I don't know of any fast method of doing it.
