Microsoft Outlook 2007 .eml attachment

I have outlook 2007 and when someone sends me an .eml attachment, all I see is a bunch of jibberish..

I have went to windows explorer and changed the extention .eml to open with outlook 2007. that was the only solution I have found online, but it didnt work.

My friend on a different computer has the same problem.

Is there anything we can do to fix this?
