HELP why cant my xbox 360 detect my computer

i am trying to stream music and videos from my PC to my xbox using an Ethernet cable that is connecting my PC and 360 i am using windows media player 11 to share the files. wmp11 will recognize my xbox 360 and i have allowed media to be shared to my xbox with the only problem being that my 360 won't recognize my computer even though it's connected directly to it and my computer recognize it. whenever i go to play music i get the "no computer's running media sharing software detected" message can somebody please help me

I am pretty sure you have to use Zune software to share between your computer and your 360

Are you using XP or Vista? If XP, then you need XP Media Center if you want to use Media Player.

ur right - u dont need the zune software ...

im not too sure - i only have simple solutions that worked for me when my 360 suddenly stopped detecting my PC ... im sure u already tried them though ...

1) turn off ur 360
2) restart ur PC (if u have a router then reset that too)
3) make sure ur wire is securely connected
4) turn on ur 360
5) open any video or mp3 in wmp11
6) go to library (in wmp11) and Media Sharing and make sure ur 360 is selected

now try to access ur files with the 360 ...

i have xp and all the stuff i have read said you just need a eathernet cable and windows media player 11 there's other stuff you can use but you can just use these two things
