my 360 is broke but the drive is flashed so would it work if i bought a new one and then switch the drives? and since i have the premium 360 would the dvd drive work in a core 360? just something i was thinkin bout

any other 360 drive will work, but you will have to flash the new drive with the old drives firmware to get it to work.

no. like i said, whenever you replace a dvd drive it has to be flashed with that consoles dvd drives FW. so you would have to flash the old drive with the new consoles original drives FW.

i had the same problem, this is what i did my drive quit reading the games so i got one off of ebay (it has to be the exact same drive)open both drives after that you will see the mainboard with the ribbons comming out (you have to be real careful) pull the ribbons out of the boards (mines had 3)then snap the board out,swap the boards then put them back together again that should work it did for mines

I don't think everything has to be the exact same any drive will work as long as you have the right key. Your motherboard and drive have a certain key and this key has to match otherwise your xbox just won't play games, so all you have to do is get your key from the drive you have now and flash it into the drive that you get. As long as your drive gives the xbox the right key it doesn't matter what you put in there, so if you switch from hitachi to samsung there isn't going to be any problems.
