I have a Panasonic HT740 dvd player and it can play original dvds (i.e from blockbuster or any other place) with no problems. However when I try to playback a dvd which I have created myself using Nero, the playback only works until 1hr 30 min mark or so. After that the dvd starts skipping really bad.

It has so far happened with all the dvds I have burned, everyone of them starts out fine but then starts skipping after the 1 hr 30 min mark. The funny thing is that if I pop the dvd into my computer's dvd player it will playback the whole thing without any issues. So I am thinking it has something to do with the panasonic dvd player? or is it the nature of encoding which the dvd player does not like and my computer's dvd player is able to handle?

any help is appreciated!

nero is shit...period:) it seems your dvd player support +r/-r playback if it launched the DVD's, so your issue resides in nero....

what media are you using to burn? set your burn speed slower (x8)!!

use DVDFLICK to create dvds, much better then nero (freeware)

or DVDSANTA (gotta pay $$)

It doesn't show any name on the blank dvds so it looks like its generic blank dvds or something. I remember I got them at my local fry's a few years back for really cheap. And I am burning using 8x since that's the max my dvdrw can support. By the way I did try using some other software to burn a dvd and it had the same results as Nero. So you think we could narrow it down to the media? I read somewhere on this board that Verbatim is the preferred choice.

I got a 50 pk spindle of Verbatim from my local best buy. So far burnt two dvds, both played back successfully!
