PSP Wireless Connection Help

My psp will not connect to router via wireless? It sees the router but maybe the security is preventing the connection I enter the name and key code but still will not connect, would it be a conflict with the type of security code.

In network settings it sees SSID but says security not supported?
Do I need to update firmware?

The serial number on the psp starts 01-27400119 and ends with -psp 1003 if that helps.

System software is version 2.01 original.
I guess to update the firmware I would need to connect to pc via usb then update from a Sony site, is that right?

This may all seem obvious to some of you sorry if I'm sounding a thickie.

It will not connect, I think it's because of the type of security on the router (WPA encription type AES)

Better if u upgrade ur firmware or to a custom firmware. But, b4 that change ur router to WEP.
