i hooked up my dvd player to this receiver but i'm getting no picture i get audio but there is no video.. can anyone can help me.....

So tell us how you have it hooked up..........
What cables did you use? What inputs on the tv did you use? Etc.......

I USED A S VIDEO CABLE FROM THE DVD PLAYER TO MY AVR-787 AND I USED AUDIO CABLES TO FROM THE DVD PLAYER TO THE RECEIVER...THE SOUND WORKS GREAT BUT I HAVE NO VIDEO....

Double check the setup menus of the receiver, and see if you need to tell it that you're using s-video. Also need to make sure that dvd player isn't in "progressive" mode. Progressive doesn't work over s-video.

On the tv's remote, there should be a button named "Input". Use that to make sure tv is set to the right input. When people say stuff like:

, it makes me wonder exactly how it's hooked up, because it should be "I also have a s-video going from my AVR-787 to my tv." You said it backwards. The s-video should run from the receiver's "Monitor Out", to the tv (Video 1 or Video 2, etc.) One of the s-video cables could be bad also.

BTW...........when you type in ALL CAPS, you're screaming at us!
