hi i've been told by my local game store that if i upgrade my 60 gig hd it will void my warranty is this right
i've read somewhere that sony recommends upgrading your hd
anyone know anything about this for sure as i want to upgrade my ps3 but dont want to void my warranty incase my ps3 stops working

Sorry to say but your local game store is run by complete morons. Sony recommends and in fact encouraged HDD upgrading; it WILL NOT void your warranty, however if you need to return it for whatever reason you will need to put the stock HDD back in it.

do you know anything about this pay to play or something like that i think i saw it on playstation web page on the ps3 browser
just wondering that's all because i wouldn't like to lose my 60 gig ps3 just because they are not being made anymore

I think its called Continuous Play and is only available in Europe. I live in the UK and plan to do this at some point. You pay so much a month and sony replaces your PS3 even if its out of warranty.
Try google or the Sony website and read about it. Seems like a good Idea.
Oh yeah and I think they replace it however many times it breaks, theres no limit.

you can either give £4.99 a month to sony or you could go to the place where you bought it for eg GAME and ask them for their warranty, it works out way more cheaper. i pay like £35 for a year i think.

sounds good m8 but will game as i did buy it from them would they be able to give me another 60gig ps3 ?????
and it was them who told me if i changed my hard drive i.e upgraded it it would void my warranty and they won't take it so i think i would be better doing that continuous play from Sony and £4.99 pcm isn't a bad price if you think about it as Sony will have loads of 60gig ps3's in stock in-case of breakdown etc and unlike game lol they don't mined if i upgrade my hard drive plus if a problem develops then i can just stick my 60gig hd back in and they wont mine because the recommend upgrading your hard drive as long as when you send it for repair or replacement it's got wot it came in/with Sony all the LMAO
