Mario Kart Pal on NTSC?

Hi i have a copy of the Mario Kart wii PAL version and an NSTC wii with a wii-key. My NTSC wii is fully up to date; however, when i place the Mario Kart wii Pal In my wii, the System Update window appears. Is there a way to play Mario Kart PAL version on MY NTSC wii without updating? Also, IF i update my NTSC wii with the PAL mario kart will my wii be bricked?
