Hi guys, Everytime I have had some sort of problem this site has been great at helping so I a major one now and hope someone here knows what is going on. OK on to this one.

I bought a PS3 about 4-5 weeks ago, brought it home and set it up and started playing it online and had a great time until the last patch from Sony. Now everytime I start a game as soon as the game starts I am signed out of the Playstation Network and the game will not work online, it says "Error 80028ED6 you have been signed out of the Playstation Network". When I exit the game back to the XMB on the playstation it signs me back in, I can go to the Playstation store and download anything I want. but no games work, same thing everytime. I called sony and they said they have no clue it should not be doing that and it is a ISP Problem.

It work like a top until the last patch, so I called my ISP provider and they came by, power cycled my router and modem, inputed some setting into the PS3 and nothing they did would work. They said they had changed NOTHING at all on the ISP end. My friend whom lives a few houses down has the same internet and his will work online just fine, mine will do everything but when I put a game in it kicks me from the network with the error. I can surf the web with the PS3 I can go to the PS store but no game works online. I am going crazy here. I am at my end with this and hope someone smarter than me knows something. Thank you for reading and any and all help.

Hmm i have heard of a few people with your problem. All i can reccommend is that you put your ps3 in a DMZ.

Here's a great guide from NinReznor: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610541

Also what are your network settings on the ps3?

Fat PSP: 3.03 oe-c (will update when i have time :P)

Ive had this same issue but I am able to still play online. I can download games and everything. One thing I noticed is that the download is taking for ever. I downloaded this so call golf demo yesterday and its just now to 50% this morning. My ps3 was on all night playing a movie. I try to go to the acount managment (which takes longer than usual to finally get to the page to select one of the two choices) to change my email address and I get a server error. Cant recall the message because Im at work now, but I will get it and let every one know.

Thank you for the replys, I still do not have this fixed. My PS3 will play games, Blu-ray movies and everything it needs to do except play a game online, I can do to the PSN store and DL but when I start a game i get Error 80028ED6. I can't even find out what that error number means. I bypassed my router and hooked the internet up to the PS3 direct and still same thing, My Nat says Nat 2 so i do not understand what is going on, this is driving me crazy. When I run a internet test I get.."

obtain IP address Passed
Internet connection Passed
PlayStation Network Passed
UPnP Not avalable
Nat Type 2

The Router in use may not support IP fragments, and because of this communication of some games may be restricted........"

After seeing the IP fragment thing I said alright it is the router but a direct plug to the PS3 with no router did the same thing. I have a motorola modem could be meesed up? The ISP looked at it and said no, and it worked before patch. So I am not sure what is going on. It played for three weeks and after the last patch nothing now. Sony will not help, my ISP AT&T WorldNet has said it is not them, they have changed NOTHING. I have no one else who can help me with this and I am to dumb to get it going, I guess i am out of luck. Thank you for trying to help me though, very kind.

Found this, might be useful.

If you recently updated the PLAYSTATION 3 with System Software version 2.20 (released March 25, 2008), and you are experiencing problems with any of the following:

* Access PLAYSTATION®Store, OR
* Play an online PS3 title, OR
* Access Folding@Home, OR
* Any other online activity

Please delete the cache and cookie files for each user on the PLAYSTATION 3 system, from within the Internet Browser of the PLAYSTATION 3.

How to Delete Cookies and Cache Files from the PLAYSTATION 3's Internet Browser 1. From the XMB menu, go to [Network] and select [Internet Browser]. Press the X button. 2. After the Internet Browser appears (even if it displays an error message), press the Triangle button. 3. Select "Tools" from the Options menu. Press the X button. 4. Select "Delete Cookies" and press the X button. Select "Yes" to confirm. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 3 above, and select "Delete Cache" > "Yes". 6. Repeat steps 1 through 3 above, and select "Delete Authentication Information" > "Yes" 7. Repeat all steps above for EACH USER on the system

If you cannot get online after following the above steps, be sure to troubleshoot your network connectivity. (Wi-Fi or Ethernet troubleshooting.)

Thank you VERY much, it is very kind for you to take the time to try and help me with this problem. Sadly I was excited when I read this but after do everything and deleting it all for myself and my son it still will do the same thing. I called sony back today to try again and ask what did Error 80028ED6 even mean, and I know you will think i am crazy and must have made a mistake but I ask three time to be sure. Sony told me it was a unknown error code and they did not know. Now why would they take the time to build a system, and put this code into it and not know what it even means, if someone told me that I would say you have made a mistake on that but they told me personally. I am at a loss, I at this time do not think this will be fixed.

This will be a pain in the ass, but why not take your PS3 to your friend's house and try it there? If you still have the problem then you can rule out a lot of things including your router setup, etc.

Just a thought. Good luck!

You know what. That IS the BEST idea I have heard and I will be calling him tonight when he is home from Church and doing just that. Great idea and thank you. Then I will know if it is a PS3 problem or a router,ISP or modem problem.

Heya Guys, I just wanted to post on what happened with my Play
Station 3. My friend from down the road brought his Ps3 over to my house and we hooked it up to the same router and modem I been trying to use and it worked just fine, logged onto the internet first try. we then tried mine again and it would not work at all, tried his again worked just fine.

So, I called sony to ask them why mine was not working and they started telling me it was ports i needed to forward, i laughed and said "no mama, it is not ports" and they said well it might be your ISP, so i could not let it go on any more and told them my friend was here with his PS3 and his worked just fine but mine would not. It was THEN and ONLY then that they told me it might be the last FIRMWARE patch and they new of some trouble people were having, this really pissed me off but what can I do, I ask why did they put me through a week of hell when they new it might be the firmware? No reply to that, they just told me I would have to send it in for repair. I said no way will I send it in, I have only owned it for maybe 4-5 weeks and hung up the phone. I boxed my PS3 up and traded it at BestBuy, I came home, hooked the new one up, downloaded the patch and it works just fine. i am now back playing online.

Sony really did me wrong on this one but nothing can be done or said. I guess I should be happy it all works now.
