What's better xbox360 or a custom built pc?

hey folks.. i was wondering what was better..... a xbox 360 or a custom built pc?? i have 2gb ram... 500bg hard drive.... nvidia 8800gt graphics card with 1gb gddr3 memory on it... my cpu is a e2180 (overclocked to 3.0 ghz dual core) i was thinking of buying an xbox 360 but would the performance of the 360 be better than my computer rig???

They are two completely different animals. No a console will not be able to stand up to a PC as far as graphics, processing or just about anything else. But as far as gaming they usually make more games for the console then they do for the PC. Plus that whole keyboard and mouse thing when playing FPS games is some what annoying to me.

Totally depends on budget.

If you have a limited budget, in other words if you can't spend at least $1000 on a PC, then you'd better go with the 360. Even then as was mentioned above, the game collection for PCs isn't as good (at least in my opinion) to that of a console, and probably never will be.

The reason I think is, when you buy a console everybody is playing on an even level. With PCs you have different O/Ss, different brands, Apple/Windows, not to mention the fact that those with better video cards, more RAM, faster CPUs have a significant advantage over those with cheaper systems.

all that being said its a matter of personal taste, but for me, I paid $300 for my PC, so I don't game online with it.

I paid $1200 for the parts for my new computer a little less than a year ago. If I wanted to play the latest games I'd have to drop at least $600 if I wanted to play them on the highest settings (what's the point of playing on lower settings anyways?). If I wanted to play Crysis at a respectable frame rate I'd have to take out a small business loan.

Consoles are by far more affordable. They offer just as good gameplay, however they will never look as good as the best computer...though for 1/6 the cost can you really blame them?

I would say for newer games all you would need is another 2GB of good RAM, and a processor upgrade. The video card you have should be able to run them.

Although the processor you have is a dual core it is a rather cheap one. For example you can buy it for about $80 these days. I bought my Core2Duo E6400 Conroe over a year ago (9-21-06) and it still sells for $190 today. And it is one of the lower processors in the Core2Duo line.

For me my PC is for doing other things then gaming. Like above there is no reasoning to having to do constant upgrades every time a new game comes out and has higher minimum requirements then the one's before it. That is why thay make game consoles. The console for me is strictly for gaming and nothing else. I do not stream media (ok, i did with the old Xbox but that was because it was a fantastic media center once modded) with it or watch DVD's or anything like that.

So the chioce is yours, buy a 360 and you will have gaming for years until a newer console comes out.

Or upgrade your PC about every 5-6 months (plus right from the start) so that you can keep up with ever changing technology in PC games.

the functionality of PC is much greater than a console will be.

if you want more than just gaming, pc is the one for you. If you're only concerned about gaming, then you might want a console. Keep in mind that on the PC you can "get" games for free. On the console, if unmodded, might end up costing you the same amount as a pc.

While we are asking, Should I get a Lambo or a Custom xbox360. I have a 2001 honda accord lx 6 cylinder 250 horse and dont know which would be better. Thanks

Totally different.

When 360 came out a quand-core processor for computers were like $3000 a pop, and yet a $400 console had a quand-core. It could run games like Oblivion at a level that required a $5000 PC to run. Different things.
