Hi all,
I took a look over some msg before send mine, it's regarding HDMIPS3 resolution.
I have a LCD 40" and I know that it can not reproduce 1080p images but it can show 1080i.
On this LCD I have my Xbox360 and now I'm planing connect my PS3 in HDMI port.
Is there any way to using a vga cable configure the HDMI to show images in 1080i or lower? Somethimes I receive a msg that PS3 found the HDMI cable, but I didn't start the config process.
When it finds the connection, go to the HDMI Input channel and hit yes to start the configuration process. It will automatically select the resolutions it thinks your TV can display.

I'm not following you about the VGA cable..?
Hi glenquag,
Thanks for your answer.
Your procedure was the first thing that I did, but it didn't work.
After select HDMI option, my LCD goes to a black page and I can't go forward in the video config process.
When I told VGA cable it means AV cable.
when the screen goes black does it go back to the page it was on after about 30 seconds? try switching off the ps3, put your tv to the hdmi input channel then hold down the power button on your ps3 until you hear a second beep, select yes and allow the ps3 to adjust your settings.
by av cable you mean the red, white and yellow leads?
