My friend wanted me to mod his old xbox 1 so he can play some copied games he bought overseas along time ago.

Long story short, I am deciding on weather to softmod or install a modchip in it, I am pretty good at soldering so that is not a issue.

I dont care about booting games from the HDD or any fancy features, just want it so just the copied games he bought would work with xbox.

Anyone recommend me a good area to start, I read the tutorials here just cant decide really on the best option, plus there are tons of modchips, if anyone can lead me to one that will easily to exactly what I want please let me know :) (I also heard that DuoX 2 GS is good for what I want)

Thanks

(I live in USA).

PS this is the soft guide I might follow, this will do what I want? or should I just go with modchips to cut the trouble.

IMO and from experience DUOX 2 GS is garbage. If you softmod the xbox using a tutorial then you should have no problems. Try it first it will take maybe 5 minutes if you have all your tools.

Remember first thing you do is backup your eeprom.bin file. With that file you can fix any mistake you have ever made.

If I spot mod with the tutorial I linked in my first post, do you think that will succeed in what I want to do?

Best bet would be to search this site for a softmod tutorial.

This one is probably the best one you'll find out there.
