so a friend helped me hack my psp some months ago, and I'm currently running, so far as I can tell, 3.40 OE-A. I'm having problems getting Crisis Core to run - it just hangs when I select new game, and doesn't play any of the movies - so I figured I would try upgrading the firmware. problem is, after scanning most of the stickied threads, I'm left more confused than when I started, and wondering what my best option is. apologies for having to post; I really did try to make sense of the stickies :P

ok, followed the steps for "Installation for an OE/M33 firmware
Installing 3.52 Custom Firmware on an OE or a M33 PSP", got that installed fine.. went to update to m33-4 and psp told me the update had been applied or wasn't applicable to that software. so ok, I figured I'd already installed 3.52 M33-4. went to set the kernel to 3.52 so I could set about upgrading to 3.71.. there is no option for 3.52 kernel setting, only 1.50 and 3.40. what gives?
edit: still not sure what I did wrong.. I followed the steps exactly and the update to 3.52M33 appeared to be successful. Operating System is still listed as 3.40 OE-A, however, after multiple restarts and the suggested memory card format.
edit #2: I apparently missed a step. second attempt successful :)
