Hi:

I have the following programs:
dvd 2 mpeg
panisonic encoder
xing mpeg encoder

The problem I am having is I am trying to get the Baby outtake from the ER DVD and while I am encoding that part it is real bright the way I would like the clip but when I start up the Xing encoder and encode the file it is really dark. Does anyone know how to correct this. I did download ImTOO DVD Ripper today. Will this work for that. Please let me know.

you could use DVD Shrink. reauthor and drag the outtake file over to the new window. then click start/end and set it to just rip the scene you want.

yes i got the 2.3 DVD Shrink and i looked on the help forum at dvdshrink.org and I need a aspi adapter. i think i'm going to wait until a newer version DVD Shrink comes out. it looks like there are still a lot of bugs with the 2.3 version. thank you very much for you help.

Hi Laura,

as sly_61019 said, download the new version of DVD Shrink from here : http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

Then, use this excellent guide
http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/DVD_Shrink_Re_Author.htm
for the re-authoring and the selection of the wanted outtake. Instead of moving the start frame to the beginning of the movie drag it to the beginning of the wanted outtake, and similarly for the end frame. There should not be any change in the picture quality or brightness, since you will not have to compress the outtake.
Hope this works!
