Firmware is fine why update it. The ROM has been fixed and I dont call that a simple patch?

I dleted the rom10 and rom11 files, uploaded the fixed rom7 and reset/restarted EvoCamd- still black picture. Then I deleted the keylist.txt, made a new keylist.txt file just containing the new keys and uploaded that to usr/keys/ on DM600c- working :-)
Why did the fixed rom7 not work straight away?
Why was the old keylist.txt full of about 168 lines of keys? New file only has 2 lines for Key0 and Key1.
Just want to understand more!

A reboot should sort that if ROMs where deleted and copied correctly. The old keylist was populated with fake keys. Dependent on the softcam used you need to set AU correctly:
# AU
# 00 is ignored (default)
# 01 enable AU
# 02 AU Auto
A: { 02 }

Nagra is encryption, EvoCamD etc are CAMs, need the right keys to decrypt. COrrect?
What is EMU? Same as CAM?
AU= AutoUpdate? Where is the setting for that? Is that by putting in one of the above options in the Keylist file?
How does the fixed rom7 autoupdate?
Sorry, lots of questions, but you've been very helpful so far.

Sorry but I think we are stepping outside of the boundaries here regards the forum rules. My previous post was borderline at best just to answer your queries.

I live in luton ( NTL 6887 )
I'm only seeing CW, TW, PURE, NTL IRL,CHORUS IRL

pure NTL
however once you apply the new rom7 file you wont need to worry about entering the code manually as the rom7 file will do this for you (or more specifically the EMU/CAM)

Hi
I am very new to all this. Is there a guide that I can use to connect my dreambox to pc and how to transfer files. I have dream box 500c. I tried looking around but could not find it. How can I also get the latest firm ware update as I think I will need to upload that and then put the fix on. Will really appreciate your help.

I've downloaded the new nagra file but can't seem to get it installed on my box, I've always used a null modem cable before, but since my old pc died i don't have a null cable port, tried using an ethernet cable via my router to connect to the DCC but it comes up with this messege "Error 10057 in function Send Socket is not connected", where am I going wrong here people?

you need to use FTP to transfer the file
