After some major mishaps with my previous Wii, I'm buying a new one.

The thing is that I'm not sure how I should tell that the Wii i'm buying has the latest chipset (Is there a serial number on the box by which I can tell?) and secondly is there some offical seal on the box which can tell me that the boxed wii has not been opened?

There are serial numbers on the box shich can be checked against WiiTracker

There was no official seal on the box when I got mine so I would say no to the official seal unless something has changed recently.

If you are buying a brand new Wii from a retail store, then your drive chip will almost certainly be a D2C Chip.
