I took off the wiikey chip and somehow got knock off one resistor(?) or chip. I can't get the wii to accept any disc. Seems to me that it is dead.

When I take a look at my system the one circled in the pic is missing. Can someone measure it and post what the resistance if is just a resistor or something.

Thanks

This thread might help you, although it has more to do with the resistor to the left.

a very long thread

I dont know if bridging the gap will help in this case. A fuse is supposed to have low resistance so shorting over it will (sorta) repair it. Shorting over where the resistor was may allow too much power across and fry some other part of the drive.
Then again if the drive is dead anyway no harm in trying I suppose...

I have the same problem, two of these things (black) have gone missing. I tested the wii to see if it still works, and it reads and plays discs, but I don't want this problem in the back of my head all the time.

Thats a pic showing the exact components missing.

the good thing about yours is it is working.

If someone can just measure the resistance on that resistor, i'll can look around a resistor that have same impedance.

On skourbion's picture I can see another resistor similar to the one you're missing. Maybe if you look around the board you can find another one thats the same as your missing one.
