Just wanted to make aware the ongoing saga of my ebay order from:
gameconsolehk
I ordered a Wii DVD drive, because we make custom Wii adapters that
allow a solderless install of programming chips.
We recieved a broken drive.
Contacted gameconsolehk.
They refused to send a refund.
Filed a claim with PayPal.
They provided me a WRONG RETURN address (on purpose?)
I noticed the error and sent the form BACK to paypal.
When I sent the form back they CANCELLED my claim.
I called the PayPal 800 number.
After bitching them out for just dropping my claim
they reinstated the claim.
I sent back the item.
They apparently claimed no reciept of item.
So I paid $2 at OfficeMax for a copy and fax of proof of return.
They apparently claimed no reciept of item STILL.
I scanned in the EMS form that shows I returned the drive.
STILL NO REFUND.
I left negative Ebay feedback - My last resort move,
which I absolutely HATE to leave negative fedback,
I try to resolve a problem with a seller by all means first.
gameconsolehk writes back and tries to blackmail us our
refund money, they say they will send refund WHEN I REMOVE
NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.
Long story short, if you are LUCKY you MIGHT get a working
drive from them.
If you don't get a working drive, be prepared for a situation like
we are in.
As far as I am concerned, and this is just my personal opinion,
but I would not purchase anything from gameconsolehk.
It has been months now, and so far I am out: $150 or so for
the unit, $28 to ship back to hong kong, $5 in gas to drive to the nearest town with a officemax or kinkos, $2 in copying and faxing fees.
No Wii drive and -$185 in losses from this transaction.

Update:
They still havent sent a refund.
They claim that once I withdraw negative ebay feedback
they will refund money + send a working drive.
I highly doubt this will happen, but we will see, and
I will certainly post back here to let you know
if they keep their word.

For anybody following the developments.

I would readd the negative feedback if you took it off. Plus explain in the new negative feedback how they forced you to delete the past negative feedback to get your refund.

I am not surprised, even US company like AMAMAX do thit kind of stuff, I bought LG GDR-8163B from them and they send LG GDR-H30R, and of course no answer to emails, they just ignored me and when I filed a complain to Paypal it was also denied for stupid reason, which means beware of AMAMAX and when you use Paypal, just hope that you won't have problems because they go to the peoples that have more money or give them more business and scre*>+< everybody else.
P.S. I am still stock with these LG drives ( 2 of them )
Good luck

They never sent that drive like they said they would, they claimed for my time and trouble they would send the drive anyway. I guess it slipped their minds. I wasn't holding my breath on that anyway.

netdata,
Not to kick you when you're down, but if you are trying to run a "business", why are you relying on eBay and suspect sellers from overseas? For your time and trouble you could have purchased a Wii for the drive and parted out the rest and still be ahead.
A long time ago before the internet, I would buy mail order to save money, but would never buy from a vendor that was too far for me to drive in case I had to deal with things "personally".

Mostly because I ran a Mr. Backup business selling the Z64 a few years ago, in the games and console business you pretty much need to deal with Hong Kong businesses one way or another it is unavoidable, and *most* HK sellers have moved to Ebay.
I didnt want to get a Wii because in prototyping, like making a solderless Wii adapater like I was making, it involves pouring a hot mold and using solvents that will most likely kill it. Wiis are still scarce in my area today even.
It was simple economics, either obtain a $160 drive or try and get a Wii on ebay for $259-300 or more.
Plus getting a Wii would be assuming which drive would be included in it.
Prototyping a drive from a Wii with the leads cut would NOT be acceptable, we needed a *specific* type of drive in order to make our adapter.
But its all moot now anyway, Wii-Clips are now available, and they were able to mass market before us.
You win some and you loose some.
But I know this business, like I said I ran the biggest Mr. Backup business in the country at one point.

Sorry to hear about your experience.
Might I suggest you find a "friend" or business associate that can deal for you locally (HK) for that stuff? (I'm sure that you've already thought of that) Saves a lot of time and trouble. Unless you have a personal friend over there, it can be tough finding someone you can trust.
Best of luck in your future endeavors.
