Hello all,
I recently see a lot of Wii downloads that are smaller than 4GB.
Are those rips?
Or just very good compression?

They are "scrubbed". It's a way of taking useless unused data from the ISO and compressing that. You get the full game but there is the possibility that in the future they will not run if Nintendo bring out an update to fix it.

Not right now. The problem is it's not true compression - i.e. the data isn't parsed for code that can be compressed and rebuilt to it's original state. It's just effectively cleared out and replaced with dummy code that's easy to compress before it's reduced in size to make the overall package smaller for transfer.
