Hey if I have a D2B and the drive pins are cut, am I going to have problems when putting in the WiiKey? When I look at the diagrams it doesn't look like the WiiKey gets soldered on the drive pins. Can someone help me with this?

The problem is that the points where you solder the wiikey connect through those drive pins, so with the drive pins they'te not connected at all.

Your only option is to file away part of the D2B chip and solder to the traces of the drive pins imbedded in it. Its not an easy job to do.

so I have to file part of the D2B away? wow...so what would you suggest? If my drive pins are cut would another modchip besides the Wiikey make it so I don't have to file the chip? What other chip could I use so I don't have to file?

All modchips will require you to shave the top of the IC off to install.

Is there any instructions on where and how to file the D2B board? Where should I file the chip? I don't want to start filing and mess something up. Am I supposed to file where the drive pins are cut, then connect that solder pad spot to the chip, making a connection again? Is there any diagram or anything that can help me? Thanks.

Yep you got the right idea. Just use a dremel or heck even a nail filer (be careful not to shave off any components nearby) and then solder to the traces revealed.

Here is an example of a mod I have done-

Can I also use to option of a Wii-Clip on a D2B with drive pins cut? Would I still need to do the drummeling and filing if I use the WiiClip? It would be a lot easier if I could just use the WiiClip. I'm still not sure what the Wii-Clip really does. I saw some posts of the forum about it being solderless.

Not true, you can use a Wasabi, an Argon 9 Wire installation, or the D2Pro 9 wire installation and not touch the drive chip.

These chips connect to different legs which are uncut so would not require you to dremel or shave anything.

You can use the Wasabi Wii-Clip.
That is the only Wii-Clip that is designed for a 9 wire install that will work with a D2B Cut leg drive chip.
You could use an Argon or a D2Pro Wii-Clip, but it will require Hard Wiring of the chip to the Wii-Clip.

Or TC can just do the smartest thing and have a professional install it.

The Wii-Clip v3 can be used for the Wiikey right? So If I use a Wiikey on the Wii-Clip, would that save me the trouble of drummeling the IC? Would it be just a plug and play? Or do I still need to file into the IC? It would be wonderful if I could just use the Wii-Clip.

No I dont think the V3 will work with the Cut Pins. I could be wrong but I dont think anything for the WiiKey will work without filing away at the chip.
You can contact the Wii-Clip developers to make sure, but I do not think it will work with the cut pins.
The V2, V4, and V5 should work because they dont utilize the cut pins. The only thing is that the V2 and V4 would require hard wiring for 9 Wire installs.

What is the 9 wire hard wiring? Does that mean that even with the wii-clip, I still need to solder the mod chip with wires? How many do you have to solder if you don't use the wii-clip?

My question exactly...i really want the easiest install with d2b chipset..+ do you need to solder the chip onto the wii-clip and then clip it onto the drive?

Wii-Clip (wii-clip.com) released a Pin-Clip for 9 Wire installs and you would need to connect the modchip to the Wii-Clip via wires for that one.
There are also a few places on the Wii where you would need to solder a wire.
Right now that clip is pointless for the D2A/D2B chips because the only universal modchip at this time is still the Wasabi.
As of right now the Argon and the D2Pro have still not released a D2A/D2B Installation so your only choice at this time for not using the cut pins is the Wasabi.
