A videographer captured my 3 day event on 9 mini DV tapes. I'm now trying to import them into my pc for me to edit them down to 2 dvds.

I was told to Rent a Sony DSR11 with firewire connections, buy an external 500gig drive with firewire connections, and download Adobe Premiere Elements 4 trial version instead of using Windows Movie Maker.

Did all of the above except that everytime I try to download the Adobe Premiere Elements 4 trail it shuts down by IE browser and it also shuts down my AOL browser when I try it that way.

So I was force to use Windows Movie maker for the importing.

My questions are:
#1 has anyone else had this same problem and how do I fix it. (It only shuts down on the adobe site.)

#2) When asked by WMM what setting I wanted to import as I picked DV-AVI. Was that the correct choice? (It had a lower size for if I planed to edit the filee on my pc. But i wanted a high quality for editing.)

#3) I don't hear the audio sounds on my pc during the importing preview. Do this mean it's not recording the audio? I'm using the DV cable connection.

#4) Will I be able to use the avi file after i get the Adobe Premiere Elements 4 to download?

#5) Do you have any suggestions for better editing software for low end users? (I was interested in Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Version 11 but read too many reviews saying that it crashes.)
