Hi there . i have flashed many xbox360 drives in the past..

My problem is , i fixed my friends xbox 360 (rrod xclamp) method and then flashed his dvd drive hitachi 059 with ixtreme 1.4 c4eva firmware.

everything went well.
no problems.

i checked the two firmware files it had created , (was and Now .bin files) with firmware toolbox.

both the keys were exactly the same.

put the xbox back together.

i turned on xbox , inserted a dvd, a game ,( all originals working on my xbox 360) the tray closes, it says reading ( for one second)
and then gives me open tray message.

i opened the hitachi drive up to make sure everything is in its proper place and it is.

i don't know what could be wrong with it...

Can anybody please help me with an idea how i can fix it? please.

i still have the firmware files and have backed them up.

thanks in advance for your time.

I forgot to add, i got my drive into mode b using slax 2.1 and also the drive had never been flashed before.

Im tempted to try and do restore, see if it will play originals once again.

Does anyone have any advice for me please?

Has anyone had this happen to them before?

Open tray error means it's not detecting the disc. Do you get the same error with originals? If it'll read originals but gives you the o.t. error for backups, then it's a laser issue. And the older Hitachis can be quite tempermental with backups.

Thanks for your reply.
it gives me the same message with originals, cds, and dvds, won't read anything.
.
if it was bricked would it still open, close?

i encountered no problems when i was flashing and also the two folders i now have seem to be good(now and was .bin folders) , both have key in, one with now in says it has the ixtreme 59V1.4s 8x
next to where it says hitachi.

do you think i should try swapping the laser ?

If it was bricked it wouldn't do anything. If you were going to swap anything, I'd say spend the extra $10 and just get the whole drive. If you get another Hit 59, you could just swap the board out of the drive. You wouldn't have to flash.

Installing new lasers isn't hard... but it can be tricky. You have to desolder the static point and you may have to adjust the angle.

But first off, was it playing originals right before you flashed it?
