Wii still semi bricked, is it ok to update wiikey?

So i accidentally semi-bricked my wii with Donkey Jet Race PAL on a US wii. I'm not sure what firmware it's on.

Anyways, my wiikey is still at 1.3b. I'd like to play SSBB, is it ok to update the wii?

Also, i've never bothered updating it yet. I see there are two different updates, what's the difference? Thanks.

I think DKJR is 3.1 PAL so you'd not fix the semi brick cos SSBB is at 3.1 as well. There's a game update and a firmware update - check the sticky thread if you have probs with SSBB because new threads relating to SSBB are closed. I don't know if you'll be able to update from the game and if you are semi-bricked you need a game with 3.2U to update your Wii firmware - There isn't one at the moment. MK USA might have it when it comes.

You are gonna need to update the wiikey if possible. 1.9s is the newest firmware and 1.4 is the config to set it up if you need to though you can use 1.2 if you get stuck. Use the Wii resources thread for queries if you have problems with that side of things.

In short - you have your work cut out and even when your Wii is eventually unbricked and all updated you might still be struggling to play SSBB due to other issues.
