A federal appeals court stated on Friday that it will not re-examine a previous ruling made in favor of TiVo Inc. in a patent dispute with Dish Network Corp. TiVo was awarded $94 million to be paid by Dish Network for patent infringement offenses. Today's decision brings TiVo closer to the payout and also provides it leverage to tout in negotiations with other providers who want to use DVR technology. ... [ read the full article ]

I get a kick out of Dish commericals saying they are better than Tivo and they are full of crap.. I am a Tivo customer and I couldn't live without it. Tivo offers so much more thean anyone and very soon they will have a news release about more new changes coming. I have seen them and they are great.

So that?s why dish is so reluctant to give customers their $100 installation rebate. It?s almost like their policies don't apply unless you harass them about it.

Tivo is nothing but a money hungry company. Why on earth would anyone pay Tivo's high monthly subscription price when most newer DVR's do the same things for about a third of the price?

Tivo is not that expensive I pay $12.95 a month the cable company's charge you $10- bucks a month for the box and 15 for the service so does the Dish company so do the math Tivo is the much better deal. Tivo at times will offer you their unit at prices below $50.00 and no they are in the business to make money just like dish and the cable companies. You don't see the cable compaines stealing technology to stay ahead of the competition like dish is doing!

Also neither the cable or dish service will have the new upcoming features that tivo offers at no charge I have been a Tivo beta tester for thes new services so they are going leave the others so far behind people will be jumping on Tivo. Keep your eye open for them soon. Also many of the cable companies are going to partner up with Tivo, Dish wanted to steal it for free!
