a perm fix is out, do you have access to the dbox from your computer as it requires a file to be copied to the dbox

you can either

a) enter they keys manually every time a key roll is done

b) apply the perm fix and let the DBox do the changes automatically

in order to apply the perminent fix, you need to copy a file to the dbox which means the dbox has to be networked to the PC in order to access the operating system on the dbox.

either via a cross over networt cable, so cable goes from dbox to PC or via a hub/switch using a normal network cable which means

you have to connect the dbox and your pc to a hub/switch

if you have a wireless router than chances are you will have a 4 port hub built in

if you look at the back of the router you will see 5 cables connections

one for the broadband router labelled WAN or INTERNET and 4 other connections labelled as 1 2 3 4.

how easy well lets just put it this way, you will need some knowledge and Windows and networking to achieve this.

Thanx, just had new software put on by slayer on ebay and all working fine now. Woooo hoo. Dropped the box in and picked it up an hour later all working- thats service.
Not sure if it's ok to put links to websites on here? some forums don't like it.

1. Press the blue button and you will be in the features menu, scroll to Tuxbox Commander, press OK.

You should now be looking at the files on the D Box.

2. Scroll to VAR and press ok, If you don?t see VAR, scroll to <DIR> & press ok, if you still don?t see VAR scroll to the next <DIR> and press ok, keep doing this until VAR appears on the screen

3. When you find the VAR file and you press OK, scroll to Keys & press OK

4. Scroll to Keylist.txt and press 4 on your remote control! It is important that you don?t press OK when you scroll to keylist.txt , you must press 4 in order to edit the code that will appear! If you pressed OK in error , just press the Home button and start again.

5. After pressing 4 you should be looking at a screen with /var/keys/keylist.txt at the top, lines of code in the middle and numbers 1 to 9 at the bottom.

you should see two or more lines of code, the ones below are examples of what you need to edit

N 5401 00 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; ROM10 AU Key Time Wed Apr 9 19:01:33 2008 (key 0 goes here - date,time will vary )
N 5401 01 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ; ROM10 AU Key Time Wed Apr 9 18:41:16 2008 (key 1 goes here - date,time will vary)

6. Now you need to scroll to the code that you are going to change.

7. When you have have scrolled to code you want to change press OK, When you press OK, the code becomes slightly larger and the first digit changes colour to red, this is now your cursor! move the cursor to Characters to be changed (x's ? remember which key goes where) and (using the remote key pad like a mobile phone keypad , ie button 1 for 1 , 2 for abc2 , 3 for def3 etc) change the keys to the new ones then press ok , then press the home button , press red to save - do this twice till you see a list of files again.

Change the access rights of the keylist.txt using button 1 when keylist.txt highlighted a popup window appear , use up key to highlight (box around) write ,then press ok (green box to right of write will change to red) use down to highlight ok then press ok (the keylist.txt will now be green in colour - this is now write protected an will stop any bad keys being picked up)
if you need to change numbers again, change the box back to green

Are you on Virgin Media or Telewest

Do you have the new codees to enter.
