Can't play WII backups

I just got a d2ckey installed on my new wii. I'm having trouble with reading my backups; I burnt a few iso's, and they all give me the "an error has occurred, refer to the wii operation manual" notification. I'm using an emprex dvd burner, burning memorex DVD+R's at 1x, and none of them play. I also tried an LG-R, which didn't work. A friend of mine gave me a backup copy of Super Mario Galaxy on a memorex +R, which worked just fine. I'm a little bit confused....

Well there are several problems-

1. You are using Memorex DVDs which you should not since they are crap.
2. Which program are you using to burn?
3. Do not burn at 1X speed

So buy higher grade media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and burn with ImgBurn at 4x speed.

I tried imgburn @ 2.4, 2, and 1x, all to no avail (with the crappy memorex's, however). Could this be a region thing? All my iso's are PAL (I believe I have an NTSC WII, since I purchased it in the US).

Emprex is a low-quality burner and is also suspect.
