Give DVDFab HD Decrypter a try.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

dvdfab decrypter to rip dvd shrink to transcode(sometimes you will need to use FixVTS or VOB Blanker to clean the file before transcoding with dvd shrink) then nero, imgburn or dvd decrypter to burn.

guides to use it

great just remember to use good media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim burning at 6x to 8x max and you should have a backup that last a long long time Rock On!

yes very much so. In 6 months or less the poor quality media may have problems with playback etc. as said use the good stuff either get Taiyo Yuden online at supermedaistore.com or buy Verbatim instore like Best Buys Stables etc. and set your burn speed in nero at 8x max

Maxell can codeout as cmc mag which is the bottom of the barrel but it can codeout as better stuff to you can use DVd Identfier to find out what youe media codes out as

http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

Sony is another brand thats pretty good media so i would stick with either

Taiyo Yuden
Verbatim
or
Sony

in order of quality

yes without touching them the media(the cheap stuff) can degrade over time

there just different formats DVD Dash R came out first then Pioneer developed the DVD plus R format because they didn't want to pay the royalties to the DVD dash R format.

the DVD dash R format plays in older DVD player better however you can booktype the DVD+R format to DVD-ROM which is universal with all DVD players. I use the DVD dash R Taiyo Yudens with never a playback problem in any DVD player. you can read this also

http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/Why-DVDRW-is-superior-to-DVD-RW/

The quality of the blank media you use is important!!

no the problem isn't with the format (DVD-R vs DVD+R) its the quality of media your using. like Taiyo Yuden vs Verbatim vs memorex

that depends on the copy protection of the movie, they change it all the time on the new releases. that method should work 99% of the time but sometimes dvdfab decrypter will need an update to do a newer movie or you will need to run the file though fixvts after you rip with dvdfab decrypter so dvd shrink doesn't have problems transcoding it
