I can't seem to burn the dvd9 english SSBB. I've already wasted 2 dl dvd and don't want to waste anymore. Heres the deal, I'm burning with my gf toshiba laptop, I burned dvd5 games on her laptop before and it worked just fine. I also have the latest firmware. I'm pretty sure her laptop is capable of writing dl dvd's, but I also checked the imgburn device info and it said that the laptop is able to burn dl dvd.

So for the past to tries, heres what happened. The first time I used imgburn, didn't set a layerbreak, and used memorax 2.4x burnt at 1x speed. It went for a while but got a error later. Below is the log.

The second time I used nero 8 with verbatim (made in singapore) 8x speed burnt at 2.4x speed, again no layer break. That only went about 30min before getting an error. My gf closed out of the program so I can't get the log or the error message.

Im stumped! This is my first time burning a dl dvd game and I don't know whats wrong. Help is appreciated.

You should probably post this in the SSBB thread, but a couple suggestions.

Burning at 2.4x is better than 1x generally. 1x is too slow and can cause burn problems.

But its possable that if it failed in the same place both times that the drive just dosent support DL disks even though it says it does.

If I had to guess I would say it's the burner. Likely it doesn't support dual-layers or has another unknown issue. You may also want to check and make sure your SSBB image is authentic. I use WiiBrickBlocker just to check and make sure it is an authentic image and the right region. Good luck.

One more thing. This line tells me that you're burning at an average of .1x which is extremely slow and means there is something going on with your drive.

There are several threads on the internet about this burner and dual layer DVDs, both reading and writing.

Try a different burner.
