Good day to everybody

I would like to know why it disappeared a new topic posted 2 hours ago.
I would like to know if it was my fault to not repeat it or some problem of the site.

I go to post the first part of the disappeared question:

If I haven't SRT files for a movie AVI, but I have that movie with inserted subtitles, how can I extract them with their times, to translate and create my own SRT? Is there any program for that?

Thank you and please tell me what must be happened with the first message to excuse me if it was a violation of the rules of the forum.

Thank you for your answer and comprehension.

Cheers.

Your first post is in 'Subtitle Help'.

Does this mean you have a DVD with switchable subtitles or that you have a video with the subtitles burned in permanently.

If the former, the subs can be extracted with the likes of 'VOB Edit' and converted to .srt with an OCR program like, 'Subtitle Creator'.
If they are burned into an AVI file, there's no way to extract them - they are part of the video, not a separate stream.

Thanks Attar. It's a disappointment not to be two separate streams.

Anyway thank you for the first suggestion.

Cheers.

It is possible to extract some subtitles from an embedded video. The process is a pain in the arse though, and works somehow better if the subtitles are displayed on a black border.
