Hi folks,

I have a DVD (Video recording of my son's wedding) from India. I am not able to play it on my Sony DVD player. It says "playback prohibited by area limitations".

I guess this is because the wedding DVD from India is in PAL with Region Code 5.

I tried to copy the DVD using Roxio 10. The settings indicated that the Region Code for recording is 1 (for USA).

However, the Sony DVD player is not reading the copy also and is giving the same error.

Is this because of PAL / NTSC issue?

How do I make a copy of this DVD in Region Code 1 and in NTSC format ?

Please help.

It's unlikely the region coding issue.
Region coding is placed on commercially pressed DVD movies - not on burned disks.

The DVD is a PAL video disk and either has to be played on a standalone player that can accept it (some North American players that accept DivX files will also play PAL DVD movie disks) or the files converted to NTSC, then re-burned.

Nero or 'ConvertXtoDVD' will convert the files.
ConvertXtoDVd has a functional trial which leaves a watermark on the output.

A free alternative is VSODivXtoDVD.
Load the .vob files in numerical order and choose NTSC for the output.
The first file should be 'VTS_01_1.VOB then VTS_01_2.VOB, etc.
Burn the DVD with 'IMGBurn' or similar burning software.
