Can I update my Wii via the internet before modding?

Basically my question is as per the topic, can I perform the update on my Wii while I wait for my modchip to arrive, without problems when I come to modding it?

Just a bit worried, hehe

Yes, you can also perform updates after. As has been said many times before: firmware version has no impact on any modchip.
