AVI to DVD movie shows up too big

I'm following the guide for AVI to DVD using TMPGEnc and I'm at the place where it has the blue bar and tells me how much space on the disc I am using.. problem is, it says the file i uploaded is 250 minutes long! I just rechecked in DivX and the movie is only 83 minutes.

What happened?

when you convert the avi file to vob dvd complyment some times the size doubbles. after you are done converting you could run the finnished project through dvd shrink, that way you can put it on one single side dvd.
