Ok, I've done quite a lot of research and failed to use this website initially because it really confused me (I cannot really explain) Anyways, I did however read Ace's guided which helped me sort of figure out what to do however I was told to make a different approach.
Plainly, my ps2 is old as hell. Its a slimline model Id say maybe a V12. 70006. Anyways, it quit reading discs at one point and thankfully this site did have a great write up on how to clean the lens. Well that over with I thought it'd be great to add an HD where this poor ps2 wont have to ever load a cd again or at the very least maybe 1 (its ELF file).
Well I was being assisted by other people online and til now there has been no resolution so Im just checking if there are any other ideas.
I have a modded ps2 (dont know what chip) they just come that way here in Asia. I was initially gonna go with:
Ace's Guide from the Unofficial PS2 Guide where he mentions the following which is basically the same for all 3 methods so to save space ill just put one.
CD method
1) First off, you need the following things:
-Action Replay MAX(V 3.36 was used)
-MAX Media Creator(included with Action Replay MAX)
-1 blank CD-R(Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or Sony)
-CD Loader ELF(found here: http://www.geocities.com/jjax1975/CDLOADER.zip) -Cog-Swap ELF(link is down, will find a new one)
-PS2 Exploit Utility 5.1(found here:
http://www.iscentral.net/console/PS2...Utility5.1.zip) -WinRAR(to extract the compressed files)
-Alcohol 120%(to burn the exploit disc)
-USB Memory Stick(to put CD Loader)
So I dont need ARM or any of these other programs right? since my ps2 is chipped?
Well the advise was to not go this route but to just dl (uLaunch.elf) and (USBAdvance)- format my usb hd to fat32 and then utilize (uLinstall) to copy games onto my hd.
So all that went well, I loaded games onto hd, i burned uLaunch.elf onto a cd and load it on ps2 - load is fine I get the GUI. Looking to launch USBAdvance.ELF once I do the screen goes black. It does not load anything. Also uLaunch does not recognize my hd as even existing.
I tried saving USBAdvance to MC and launch from there but still nothing happens.
Any Ideas as to what I can do? Atleast to get USBAdvance to launch? I figure if the hd is the problem ill just have to buy a new one but the application alone should launch no problem.
