this is the message I sent to samsung and thier reply:

When I click on the samsung disc in the icon tray, it says 'The model installed in your pc not supportable model'
I have been to the website and installed the latest firmware and it still will not burn dvd's. Any help would be appreciated.

If after installing the frimware and it still dont work then please call 1-800-SAMSUNG so we can get you a lv2 or higher support.
Please do the firmware update at www.samsungodd.com . Please do the live update which will auto detect the unit and install the correct firmware. If after you try this and it still does not work please call 1-800-SAMSUNG

You can do the online RMA process for hard drives and ODD drives at www.samsung.com as it is only way to RMA a drive. go to support tab then go to the online service request tab then scroll down the page look for a yellow triangle telling you to click here for drives.

forgot the model, it's a se-s204n, on one part of the website it gave me a firmware latest edition with a .tsoo end and another part of the website gave me a .tso1 end, so I used the .tso1 believing that was the latest. And what does he mean by RMa procces for the the drive?
Also,I have firefox, so when I try to enter the samsung-ODD.com website, I click on english and it just gives me an application to download instead of letting me on the site. thanks for replying, Scott

Also, my laptop is a gateway mt6831,dual core 1gig each, ram?, it's a year old.
Anyway, since you seem to be the genius of this site, I bought this in the first place to burn 360 games, I've been out of work all year and it will be a while before I can buy any more games. I have a 360 original and a 360 elite, One of them I want to mod but before I go through all that, I would like to upgrade the graphics card on this pc but it says I can't. Do you know any way I can do that even if it's external?
I was thinking I could just download pc versions of the games and use the sixaxis controller with virtual dvd's and drives.

ok, i have to get to lunch but when i get there i will read the last part, for now:
RMA is a return merchandice authorization. They give you a number and you return the product to them.

EDIT: according to the site i use the TSOO is the newest flash

You could get the PC versions but for me shooters like Rainbow Six are just too hard using a keyboard and mouse. Only game i still play on my PC is Tiger Woods 07.

As far as a graphics card for a laptop, well everything on a laptop is hard to upgrade compared to a desktop.I really did not see anything in the way of a grapgics upgrade. If you seriously want to do PC games you need a good desktop system

I have seen quite a few posts from people using laptop computers who have problems burning 360 games. It could be something as simple as the media you use, the firmware, or even a setting in the system management (you should set it to burn in DMA mode if you have that in the settings).

Do you know the exact error message that you are getting when you try to burn and it fails, and also when in the process does this happen?

To be 100% honest i would not even worry about it quite yet, because until you get one of your 360's modded you will be burning stuff and not even be able to test it to see if they work, and with the price of DVD+R DL discs these days that can get expensive.
