Hello,

When I got on the computer today a message popped up saying that since XP has been installed the software or hardware has been significantly changed and that it needs to be re-activated. Now I'm worried this may somehow be a virus. I've heard that if you change the hardware significantly that this can happen. I've only added a stick of RAM and a DVD drive and thats over a 3 year period. (DVD drive was inserted a few months ago.) But I think it said due to significant software changes. SO thats why I'm worried it might be a virus or spy ware. What should I do ?

Thank you

Max

i've had this happen a few times with new ram, new vid card, etc. just call up MS and tell them you got the message and they will give you a new key to put in. otherwise you should be able to do it via the internet activation.
