asf is to me the worst quality and not worth the time to mess with, its what a lot of web sites use (i belive) like for movie trailers and such, it is used becasue it is a quick way to download a video, but quality wise i wouldnt even waste my time. the best quality as of now is withought a doubt mpeg2 (used in dvds and svcds) one step lower than that is mpeg1 (used in vcds) and then i would only go with (divx)avi after that, i dont think the others are worth wastinbg time on.
