digivox v2.500, upgrade to v 2.800

Guys im using the silver digivox and its running v2.500. Since n*l start changing the codes daily i have to enter them manually. If i upgrade the firmware to v2.800 will that sort that problem out? also, i'v never updated the firmware before is it difficult to do? any feed back wuld be great fellas....
