If a dvd is copy protected, how do I by pass that in order for me to burn a copy or is that even possible?

You will need special software. It is possible, although illegal to do so. Just have to make that point. Some software available to accompildsh such a task is Slysofts ANY DVD and CloneDVD2. There are free ones also available. Check here at afterdawn. Most of this software and the guides to use them are available here.

It is my understwending that ad is only helping us make
'back-up's of DVD's we already own. Yes ad is against priacy.

Agree. aD is firmly against piracy. If you own the movie/music/video game then it's yours to make a backup copy for home use.

If you own it, and it is copy protected, it IS NOT yours to make a backup copy for home use. It is illegal to do so in the U.S.A. and Canada. I don't know about other countries, but I suspect that it is illegal most anywhere.
