I have noticed that AVI files of TV shows that seem to originate from the US tend to have a rate of 23 fps. A 45 min show is about 350MB. The shows from the UK (Britain) have 25fps and are about the same size. Anyone know the reason for this??

It is annoying as when I play the 23fps shows on my divX dvd player and put it on the 50in TV, the motion is jerky. The 25 fps plays very smoothly however. So Even though I'm based in North America the British shows play better. ??

Any ideas? Any way to resolve this?

Thanks

Well the frame rate in the UK is 25 fps, while in the USA
it's 29.97/23.976. These frame rates are derived from the broadcast
standards.
Usually the frame rate that matches the equipment plays the best.

So you are suggesting that the jerky motion is not because 23fps is too small, but because the dvd player has to convert the fps to a rate in which it can transmit and this conversion causes the jerkyness?

You would think a DVD with DIVX Ultra made for the N Anerican audience would play the standard FPS for this region.

Nuts.
